I’m an American writer and a longtime resident of Italy, a contributing journalist for The New York Times, the central Italy correspondent for Monocle, and a contributing editor at Konfekt.
Covering the worlds of art, fashion, design, and travel, I’ve carved out a beat about the culture, craft, and creativity to be found within Italy. I’ve profiled artists working and exhibiting in the country such as Anish Kapoor, Maurizio Cattelan, Anselm Kiefer, Jenny Saville, Carsten Höller, and Olafur Eliasson, alongside fashion talents like Brunello Cucinelli, Angela and Rosita Missoni, Lucie and Luke Meier at Jil Sander, and Jeremy Scott at Moschino, plus architects including Rem Koolhaas, India Mahdavi, Formafantasma, and Luca Guadagnino in his role as a designer. In my travel stories, I’ve brought readers on adventures with the cowboys of southern Tuscany, on boat trips to explore Venice, to the spas of the Dolomites, and to the wild coast of Pantelleria, alongside in-depth guides to Milan, Florence, Naples, Palermo, and other Italian cities.
My stories have also appeared in the Wall Street Journal, the Financial Times, Wallpaper, Elle, GQ, Vanity Fair, The Business of Fashion, Kinfolk, Surface, New York magazine, and more. I’m the author of two editions of the Wallpaper* City Guide to Milan books, and an author and editor of the Monocle Travel Guide to Milan. My articles for The New York Times have been featured on the newspaper's front page, selected as Weekend Reads, and anthologized in New York Times books.
Currently based in Florence, after many years in Milan, and a couple of years in tiny Lucca, I can be reached for editorial or commercial collaboration requests here, or at [email protected].
